tips for losing weight

Progress

Here I will record my weekly stats.

Target body weight: 83kgs
Target body fat percentage: 12%
Target completion date: 29th February 2012

Measurements at start (24th December 2011).

Left bicep (relaxed): 31.0cm
Right bicep: 31.0cm
Waist: 100.0cm (39.4″)
Hips: 100.5cm
Left thigh: 60.2cm
Right thigh: 60.2cm
Estimated body fat percentage: 20%
Weight: 89kgs (196lbs)
Height: 185cm (6′ 1″) – not expected to change.
Age: 48 – birthday in February
BMI: 25.9 (Normal weight = 18.5–24.9) – this measurement is not well respected currently, but it is popular so I included it. However, I do strength training, so I want to add muscle which could make me appear to have a higher than expected BMI for a healthy person.

It looks like I may not need to measure both sides of my body since I appear to be symmetrical. This is to be expected, since I did a lot of exercise over the past year.

Update on 3rd January 2012

This is the first progress update. The main change is in my waist measurement with an amazing reduction of 3 cms (1.4″) in just over 1 week.

Bicep: 31 cm
Waist: 97 cm (38″)
Hips: 100 cm
Thigh: 60 cm
Weight: 88.5 kgs (195 lbs)

Update on 11th January 2012

Not much change this week with only the hip measurement showing a difference (-1cm). I think I consumed too much alcohol, so need to cut back.

Bicep: 31 cm
Waist: 97 cm (38″)
Hips: 99 cm
Thigh: 60 cm
Weight: 88.5 kgs (195 lbs)

Update on 4th February 2012

Sorry, I haven’t been updating this section of the site lately. The reason is that I don’t expect to lose much weight until winter is over.

Outside, we have a lot of snow, and I like to burn calories with outdoor exercise such as running, and cycling. I’m still eating my scrambled eggs breakfast everyday. And, lately, I am going skiing each week which is probably burning a few 100 calories and keeping the muscles tuned.

But when the weather is good, I like to do extreme exercise such as cycling up mountains for hours at a time. That is a topic that I am yet to cover on the blog.

My aim is to get ripped for the October beach party, but it is some way off yet.

I do 25 push-ups a couple of times per week before my morning shower. Oh, yeah, I shovel snow too.

So until spring comes around, I can’t promise any conventional exercise news. But I hope that you are taking my advice to become generally more active in your everyday life.
