How to Cook Rice

If you cook rice regularly, you are advised to buy a rice cooker which will give the best results.

If you use a pan to cook rice then follow this method.

Using a Pan to Cook Rice

Remember that rice expands 3 times in volume after cooking.
Measure the rice with a cup (tea cup, mug etc.). 1/2 a tea cup per per person approximately.
  1. Add measured amount of rice to pan
  2. Wash and rince the rice
  3. In the pan, add 1.2x the rice volume of water e.g. if 200ml rice, add 240ml water
  4. Bring to boil with fierce heat with the lid on
  5. Once boiled, reduce the heat and simmer until most of the water is evaporated
  6. Turn the heat off, let it stand for 10 minutes and then serve

Tip

Cook a large amount of rice and divide it into one portion sizes. Wrap in cling film and freeze.

When you need the rice, simply microwave it for 2-3 minutes.
